Dashain Wishes 2076
Dashain is to receive and give blessings and offerings of Tika (vermilion) and Dakshina (money present) to our family and loved ones. Dashain is a fifteen-day festival, and the outstanding days to celebrate Dashain are the first, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth days.
Dashain begins the day of Ghatasthapana, where we plant corn and barley seeds in sand and mud in a dark room where we practice religious worship. The seventh day of Dashain marks Fulpati, who is celebrated with an official ceremony in Tundikhel.
A Fulpati parade is brought by Tundikhel to the residence of the President of Nepal. Dashain’s eighth day is dedicated to Maha Asthami, goddess Kali, one of the goddesses Durga’s forms. To appease the fiery goddess Kali, people across the country sacrifice goats, chickens, and buffaloes in temples. The ninth day of Dashain is Mahanavami, where Lord Vishwakarma is worshiped.
Vishwakarma is the god of creation, sacred to mechanics and craftsmen. People love vehicles, tools, and equipment on the ninth day of Dashain. One of the main features of Mahanavami is the Taleju Temple, whose doors are open to the public only during Mahanavami.
The tenth day of Dashain is Vijaya Dashami, one of the most important days for Nepal. During Dashami, elders Tika and Jamara relied on younger relatives and relatives. These are sacred rituals as Tika and Jamara symbolize the blessings passed down from generation to generation, from elders to adolescents.
Dashain means a long vacation where people exchange holiday greetings. It means flying kites and wearing new clothes, having delicious meals and having a good time with family members. Dashain symbolizes the goddess Durga’s victory over the demon Mahishasura in Hindu mythology.
It means the victory of good over evil. It also symbolizes Lord Ram’s victory over the evil King Ravan. The tenth day of Dashain marks Vijaya Dashami is the day Goddess Durga defeated Mahishasura after a nine-day fight. Dashain symbolizes peace and prosperity among compatriots.
Dashain occupies a special place in my heart. When I was young, Dashain meant a break from schoolwork to buy new clothes and memorable moments with my family. Even today, as an adult, I am looking forward to the excitement of Dashain, one of the most auspicious festivals in Nepal.
